Experience the best of Jamaica and visit two Jamaican legends in one day. Climb up Dunn’s River Falls, one of the most exotic and popular natural attractions in Jamaica. Visit the quaint village of Nine Miles: the birthplace, former home, and final resting place of Reggae legend Bob Marley.
Your legendary Jamaican experience kicks off as soon as you arrive at Dunn’s River Falls. Featured in the James Bond classic Dr. No, Dunn’s River Falls is Jamaica’s most popular natural attraction, and the one of the few waterfalls in the world that empty straight into the sea.
Dunn’s River Falls is a living and growing phenomenon with rocky pools beautifully carved out by the actual water’s flow. The real attraction here is the 600-foot waterfall, terraced like giant natural stairs cascading down into several small lagoons. Climb your way up to the top of the waterfall. You can do a wet climb, by walking within and through the falls, or a dry climb, by walking on a trail alongside the falls. Take a quick swim in the refreshing pools, then have a delicious lunch at an authentic Jamaican restaurant.
After this, head inland and deep in the Jamaican mountains for a visit to Nine Miles: home to the birthplace, house and mausoleum of Reggae legend Bob Marley. Embark on a tour of the property with local Rastafarians. Get as close as you can ever get to Bob Marley’s legacy and gain insights into his life as a child and as a teenager. Ultimately, hike up the hill of Mount Zion towards Bob Marley’s Mausoleum to pay tribute to the musical icon’s final resting place. Mount Zion is also known for the ”Rock pillow” – a stone where Bob Marley rested his head for musical inspiration.
As the day draws to an end and we ride back down for the return journey, we leave with Bob Marley’s famous words “‘though the road’s rocky, it will sure feel good”.
