Journey down to Kingston, Jamaica’s vibrant capital for a day full of reggae, music and culture. Learn all about the history and life of Reggae Superstar Bob Marley. Travel back in time with a visit to the iconic Tuff Gong Recording Studio and enjoy a sightseeing tour along Kingston’s main highlights.
Bright sun, reggae music playing at every corner, the smell of tasty food in the streets, and a rich history – this is Kingston, capital of Jamaica. Feel the energy of the city as we embark on a panoramic tour through the busy streets. Drive along the National Heroes Park, see the National Stadium and pass Emancipation Park before arriving to life-like Bob Marley statue. Our sightseeing continues towards the famous Wall of Fame, a mural celebrating Jamaica’s most influential celebrities. Then it’s time to explore downtown.
Next up, a visit to the iconic Tuff Gong Recording Studio, founded by Bob Marley himself. This is the magic place where Bob Marley recorded some of his most famous songs like “No Woman Nuh Cry” and “Buffalo Soldier” to mention a few. Tuff Gong has an intense and passionate vibe that makes it an inspirational place for all music lovers. Discover all about the techniques of music making, see Bob Marley’s original mixing board, and walk in the steps of superstars. Talking of superstars – our next stop is lunch at renowned Tracks n Records, Usain Bolt’s very own restaurant.
The afternoon will be devoted to Bob Marley’s Museum located in the legend’s former home. This wooden, creaky building is a shrine that tells the story and success of the reggae legend, through pictures, clips from his last tour, gold and platinum records on the wall, and so much more. In contrast with his enormous success, Marley’s bedroom is a tiny, simple room – and yet it managed to inspire one of the most important men of Jamaica.
After soaking up in reggae culture and history all day long, our last stop leads us to the Devon House Mansion, home of Jamaica’s first black millionaire, George Stiebel. Today, Devon House is known for its renowned ice cream. Considered by some the best ice-cream in the world, and served in one of the most beautiful mansions of Kingston. A delicious and chill end to a thrilling day.
